As a child Ali Wastie enjoyed many snow seasons skiing at Mount Baw Baw.
So, it’s not surprising her childhood memories, coupled with her love of the great outdoors and passion to protect the natural environment, carry great synergy with her role as Alpine Resorts Victoria Board Chair.
“Victoria’s alpine resorts have long been a loved and treasured tourism icon, not only for local communities but interstate and global visitors,” Ali said.
“Since I was a child I have appreciated and enjoyed everything the alpine region has to offer so the opportunity to help guide the sector, deliver tourism growth and help arrest the devastation of climate change is a personal commitment.”
Ali’s career experience spans the arts, education, public service and local government sectors. Since 2019, she has held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Bass Coast Shire Council and is an accredited executive coach, mediator and alumnus of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Previously, she has held leadership roles across the Victorian Public Service and positions in local government, including as Director for City Communities at Melbourne City Council and Director for Social and Economic Development at Yarra Ranges Council.
Ali also holds Board positions with the South Gippsland Hospital, One Gippsland, Destination Phillip Island, Destination Gippsland and Bass Coast Country University.
An accomplished media presenter and sought-after public speaker, Ali was named one of IPAA Victoria’s top 50 Public Sector Women in the established category in 2019. She is passionate about developing high performing teams and creating a workplace culture that is innovative, empowered, strategic, trusting and fun.
Ali holds a Master of Diplomacy and Trade, a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education, a Bachelor of Arts and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Director’s course.
In her spare time, Ali enjoys travel and watching her beloved North Melbourne Football Club with her family.
