Climate Change Adaptation Strategy
Leading climate change adaptation for the State’s alpine resorts is a key priority for ARV, and the development of a Climate Change Adaptation Strategy is central to this.
Recently ARV has undertaken an extensive consultation and engagement program to inform the strategic direction of the plan, including engaging with Traditional Owners and stakeholders from across all six alpine resorts, involving Stakeholder Consultative Committees, lift companies, government agencies and catchment management authorities.
This strategy is due for completion in December 2024 and will detail actions to take at a resort-level for adaption to climate change that will enhance the long-term sustainability of the resorts.
ARV would like to thank all stakeholders and partners for their contributions to the project.
Traditional Owner Engagement and Self-Determination Strategy.
Another key priority for ARV is to create a shared strategy with the Traditional Owners of the alpine country. This shared strategy will respect the needs and wishes of the Traditional Owner groups and ensure they are able to experience alpine country in a way that meets their cultural, spiritual, social and environmental needs.
Through yarning sessions, surveys, and consultation meetings, both registered and non-registered Traditional Owner groups have engaged with ARV, expressing their priorities, emphasising the importance of maintaining their connection to the land, sharing knowledge, and engaging in cultural and environmental activities that reflect their values.
The strategy is due for completion in late 2024.
