The Alpine Leasing Policy Review is continuing to progress, led by ARV in partnership with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), and supported by a stakeholder reference group.
The aim of the review is to develop a contemporary policy that provides prudent and flexible options for leases within Victoria's alpine resorts. The new policy will also help protect the environmental, social and economic values of the resorts while acknowledging the likely impacts of climate change in the medium to long term.
The review is building on work that began in 2019 by the former Alpine Resorts Coordinating Council, including a survey of around 400 stakeholders that identified valuable insights into the issues and opportunities relating to leasing within the resorts.
The stakeholder reference group met in May to discuss and provide feedback to ARV on proposed principles that will form the basis of the new policy, and a matrix for determining appropriate lease terms and their requirements. This feedback will inform future policy work for consideration by the stakeholder reference group.
ARV will continue to work with DEECA and the stakeholder reference group over the coming months to test and refine a draft policy which will be available for public consultation on the Engage Victoria website. Stakeholders will be advised of this consultation process ahead of time and further updates will be provided the review progresses.
