ARV is saddened to learn of the passing of Colin Hackworth, a legend of the alpine sector and a wonderful contributor to Victoria’s alpine resorts.
Amber Gardner, CEO of Alpine Resorts Victoria, remembered Colin for his immense contribution to the State’s alpine resorts.
“Colin started his career at Mt Hotham, first as a junior ski instructor, and over time, gaining more and more seniority, eventually as General Manager at Mt Hotham, and then Falls Creek,” said Amber.
“He worked passionately to create a collaborative alpine sector in Australia and shaped the way we work together, with the inception of a national alpine collaboration which is now known as the Australian Ski Areas Association”.
“We will all remember Colin as a passionate advocate, a great thinker, good fun and a wonderful friend. He will be missed by many,” she said.
Colin’s career in the alpine sector spanned almost 50 years and he was recognised earlier in 2024 with a Silver Snow Shovel Award an honour awarded to the sector’s accomplished and long-standing individuals.
ARV would like to express deepest condolences to Colin’s family and friends during this difficult and sad time.
